KARACHI: At this point in time, with so much awareness about different religions and cultures, we would expect that foreign media would move away from the stereotypes about Pakistanis and Muslims. But it seems that they aren’t quite there yet. And it seems as though Mehwish Hayat
has had enough. Rather than simply talking about the incorrect portrayal of Pakistanis
and Muslims, she’s taking action. Here is how Mehwish Hayat is planning on changing the western media as we know it.
Taking to social media she revealed, “I’m super excited to introduce you to something I’ve been working on for sometime.” In her post Mehwish Hayat emphasized on how the time to talk about the incorrect portrayal in western media has ended and now its time to take action and how she plans to do just that with her production house, “I’ve spoken a great deal about representation of Muslims and Pakistanis in Western media. Over time It’s become increasingly clear to me that just talking is not enough and we cannot wait for mainstream to change. If we want to change these perceptions we need to take matters into our own hands. That’s why I’ve started Pink Llama Films in UK. I believe that that is the only way to shape the narrative about who we are and what we stand for.”

As per the actor, the idea behind Pink Llama Films is to work towards, “Producing content that’s authentic, thought-provoking, and entertaining. I hope that by doing this we can break down stereotypes and promote greater understanding and acceptance in the world. I am thrilled at the response I’ve already had and am so proud to be working with several award-winning partners with whom we have developed an amazing slate of projects that I cannot wait to share with you.”

We can’t wait to see the change that Mehwish Hayat promises to bring!
