KARACHI: Asim Azhar is taking the internet by storm. On Friday, 26th March, Asim Azhar dropped his latest single ‘Yaad’, a song for which he collaborated with Talha Anjum and Talhah Yunus. Only three days later, the song is trending on number 1 on Youtube. But that is not the only reason why Asim Azhar is in the headlines today. In a series of tweets, the singer urged fellow musicians to step out of their comfort zones and produce original content.

Over the past few years, the Pakistani music scene has evolved with new and young artists entering the playing ground. And it’s not just new voices that are emerging but also new genres. But as it is with change, it takes time getting used to and so, with their new single Yaad’ currently trending on #1 on YouTube, Asim Azhar and Young Stunners are definitely celebrating their success. As Talha Anjum tweeted, their “hard work and consistency” paid off.

Asim Azhar, however, also took this as an opportunity to reach out to fellow artists to make a point. In a series of tweets, he called out the music industry for not producing original content and music videos. In his tweet he said “thora jaib mein haath daaldo aur saath do” (invest from your own pocket and contribute) The critically acclaimed crooner also went on to say that artists are waiting for “koi brand ajaye, koi drama karlain” (waiting for a brand or a drama to approach them) rather than composing original work and that is not the way to go forward.

All in all, he urged fellow artists to step out of their comfort zones and safety nets. He encouraged them to invest in the music industry, even if it means doing so from their own pockets.
