Asim Abbasi to co-direct BBC’s adaptation of The Famous Five

KARACHI: Growing up, at one point or the other, we all believed that along with our friends, we could be crime solving young heroes. And a major part of that had to do with reading Enid Blyton's infamous The Famous Five novels. Nothing could be more exciting than seeing those childhood dreams turn into a live action TV series. For Pakistanis, the show will be all that more special knowing one of our own is behind the series. It was recently announced that Asim Abbasi would be directing one episode of the three part series.

Asim Abbasi is the man behind some of the most well received movies and TV series. He wrote and directed the critically acclaimed Cake which starred Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheikh and Syed Mohammad Ahmed. He was also the mastermind behind Churails and the highly anticipated Barzakh. The Famous Five series is a production of both, BBC and ZDF, and while Abbasi will be directing the second episode which Priya K Dosanjh has written, other directors on board include Tim Kirkby of Fleabag fame and Bill Eagles from Gotham.
