KARACHI: If there is one thing that has become clear in recent times, it is that there is no holding Pakistanis back from making a global impact. Whether it’s our musicians or our actors or our designers, they all have made a name for themselves across the globe. Not too far behind in their achievements are our Pakistani mountain climbers. These mountaineers have reached new heights and there is no stopping them!
Naila Kiani
Naila Kiani has etched her name as one of the first female Pakistani climbers to scale the ninth highest mountain – Nanga Parbat.
The Nanga Parbat range is known as the “Killer Mountain” because of how dangerous it is and the high fatality risk attached to scaling the mountain. Despite all the risk, Naila Kiana managed to conquer the 8,126 meter peak! She has now managed to ascend seven of the enormous 8,000-meter peaks on the planet.
Shehroze Kashif
Shehroze Kashif is the youngest of Pakistani climbers to have conquered all 12 of the world’s highest peaks!
Earlier this year, Kashif successfully summited Nepal’s Mount Dhaulagiri which stands at a staggering 8,167 meters above sea level. As per the young mountaineer, his aim is to be able to set the world record for summitting the 14 highest peaks of the world.
Asad Ali Memon
Asad Ali Memon made headlines by accomplishing the extraordinary feat of reaching the summit of the highest peak in the world – Mount Everest. And by doing so, he became the first person from Sindh to do so.

Sajid Sadpara
One of the most celebrated Pakistani climbers, Sajid Sadpara has a lot of achievements under his belt. Perhaps one of his most difficult adventures was summiting Mount Everest without any supplemental oxygen and assistance.

Sadpara has seen some of the highest peaks of the world, including that of K2, the 8,035-metre high Gasherbrum II and 8,091-metre tall Annapurna mountain in Nepal (without supplemental oxygen)!
Samina Baig
Samina Baig is not to be forgotten when it comes to mentioning female climbers of Pakistan.

Baig was a close second to Naila Kiani when it came to summiting Nanga Parbat not too long ago. In 2014, she was the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest and since then she’s only ever looked up! She is also the first Pakistani to climb seven summits in seven continents!
