KARACHI: Time Magazine recently revealed its yearly Top 100 Most Influential People List for 2023. Featured on that list is Pakistan’s very own Federal Minister for Climate Change along with the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and supermodel Bella Hadid!

Time Magazine features people from all around the world in their Top 100 list and divides the categories into six sections: Leaders, Titans, Artists, Innovators, Icons and Pioneers. Sherry Rehman’s profile was included under the leaders section and was penned by Germany’s state secretary and special envoy for international climate action Jennifer Morgan which read, “She gave a voice to those who had lost everything to the floods. Through impassioned speeches and tireless engagement in negotiations, she convinced many of the delegates that the blatant injustice must come to an end. COP27 ended with a historic decision—the world community agreed for the first time to establish new loss and damage funding arrangements to support the most vulnerable countries.” Morgan also wrote about how, “We will need more people like Sherry Rehman along the way.”

Shah Rukh Khan earned a place in the Time Top 100 list under the icon category. He was nominated by Deepika Padukone, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Khan who also wrote his profile, “Shah Rukh Khan will forever be known as one of the greatest actors of all time. But what truly sets him apart is his mind, his chivalry, his generosity. The list goes on. ” Padukone concluded, “For someone who has known him intimately and cares for him deeply, 150 words will never do justice to the phenomenon that is Shah Rukh Khan.”

Bella Hadid was also included on the list under the pioneer section. Writing about her feature, Hadid said, “In awe of this achievement, and being able to be recognized along side so many talented, hardworking and life changing people. These are human beings challenging government systems, inventing world changing products, and being a light for many, in a world of darkness. Not to say I haven’t gone head to head with government systems before , but there is still a lot I have to do and a lot that has to be done.” She also wrote, “I know in my heart, to be right, when it comes to the refugee crisis, governmental pawns, border control issues and systematic oppression. I will always be a supporter for the oppressed and anyone less fortunate, no matter whose feathers it ruffles. Helping others is my passion& I will never stop, no matter what. It’s important for me to always speak my truth, and be as genuine as I can with you all, so to get on this list just by being myself and advocating from my heart, is a blessing in itself.”
