KARACHI: Pakistan men’s cricket team entered the T20 World Cup 2021 as dark horses. The team was young and not experienced as most of their competitors. However, cricket being the unlikely glue that holds the nation together, had the whole country supporting and praying for the boys in green regardless. As Pakistanis once again showed faith in their team, the men on ground delivered performances far above anyone’s expectations. With five consecutive wins and multiple records broken, Team Pakistan went through to the semi-finals undefeated. The Pak vs Aus T20 semi-final, however, had different plans for team green. As Pakistan lost by 5 wickets, they also lost their chance at the World Cup trophy.

Pakistan may have lost the match but our team showed true sportsmen spirit, determination and brilliance during the tournament. And that is exactly what people wanted to thank them for. From Prime Minister Imran Khan to celebrities and former cricketers, the internet was full of praises and gratitude.
Many reminded the Pakistan men’s cricket team about the pure joy that they had brought to an otherwise troubled and stressed nation. Osman Khalid Butt and others spoke about falling in love with cricket again, all because of how well our team performed.
After the Pak vs Aus T20 semi-final, former cricketers also posted words of encouragement for the current team. Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi alike appreciated the team’s performance and asked the nation to keep supporting them even after the World Cup.
