KARACHI: As many cinemas in the US and other parts of the world continue to remain closed due to the pandemic, many Hollywood films have pushed their release dates forward. Wonder Woman 1984, too, was initially set for release in summer 2020, then fall 2020, and has finally been announced to come out on December 25th. As a first, the movie will be released in theatres as well as HBO Max on Christmas.

“As we navigate these unprecedented times, we’ve had to be innovative in keeping our businesses moving forward while continuing to super-serve our fans,” Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group told Variety“This is an amazing film that really comes to life on the big screen and, working with our partners in the exhibition community, we will provide that option to consumers in the U.S. where theaters are open. We realize that a lot of consumers can’t go back to the movies due to the pandemic, so we also want to give them the option to see Wonder Woman 1984 via our HBO Max platform.”

In countries where HBO Max is not available, Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in cinemas on December 16th. For subscribers of HBO Max in the US, the film will be available for streaming for a month without any additional cost.
