KARACHI: Actress Meera ji made her silver screen comeback with Saqib Malik’s Baaji last year. Since then, she has become more active on social media than ever before. We also saw her posting about being stuck in Dubai due to Covid-19. She even requested for money/funds while she was there. “I have met with serious senior respected responsible people in the embassy. I appreciate to government #Pakistan #overseas… protecting my house my family my Pakistan,” she wrote on social media. The post also included her address and bank account details to transfer donations.
In a recent turn of events, she has been assued of generating funds under the name of charity. She apparently turned her home into a shelter house to support the homeless. However, after the accusation, she held a press conference at Lahore Press Club yesterday. “The real life heroine, Meera, is alive. It is not her wind up yet, it is the interval. I am being punished for my good deeds. It is in my blood to stand in solidarity with humanity. I have been accused that I have raised funds. I will let the people decide for me,” she asserted.
COMMENT: Iffat Omar’s behaviour is the reason Meera hides her age
She also shared her bank details during the press conference to verify she hasn’t taken any money. “If anyone proves I have taken money or funds, I will hang myself. I’m being held accountable and every individual in show business should be held accountable too. I request Chief Justice of Pakistan to discard all the cases registered in court against me. The shelter home that I had created wasn’t permanent. Shoud I leave my home? Should I come on the roads? What do they want?”
