KARACHI: Pakistani politics has been nothing short of a circus during the past few days. From assemblies dissolved to multiple resignations served to absolute havoc created on social media, Pakistanis witnessed quite a historical week in early April. Following the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan, a voting session was held at the National Assembly on April 9. Opposition needed a total of 172 votes to remove Imran Khan as Prime Minister. Gathering 174 votes, the opposition became successful in their no-confidence motion resulting in Imran Khan being ousted from his role as Prime Minister.

Khan is the first Prime Minister in the history of Pakistan to have been voted out. Naturally, the nation has been left in a state of uncertainty and anxiety. Many are skeptical of what is yet to come while others are celebrating the removal of Khan.
Supporters of Imran Khan have been praising his perseverance and commending him for fighting till the end.
Ali Muhammad Khan from PTI seems to have special faith in Imran Khan as the former stuck around in the assembly to speak in favour of the then-Prime Minister even when everyone else had left.
Other politicians and ministers have also tweeted in favour of Imran Khan as labeled April 9 as a ‘tragic’ day for Pakistan.
Members of the media fraternity also came forward in support of Imran Khan. Farhan Saeed, Shahveer Jafry, Samina Peerzada, Shaista Lodhi were amongst many who tweeted in favour of the politician.
Meanwhile, opposition has been celebrating their historic win against Imran Khan and promising the nation a brighter future.
However, even those who did not fully appreciate Imran Khan’s tenure do not believe in restoring ‘purana Pakistan’ for our past is no less damaged than our present.
