KARACHI: Actress Yumna Zaidi has proven her mettle time and again. She has been impressing fans with all of her recent roles. The list includes drama serials Inkaar, Dil Kiya Karay, Ishq Zah e Naseeb and the most recent, Pyar Ke Sadqay. Currently starring in Raaz e Ulfat, Yumna Zaidi has resumed shooting for her next that was delayed due to Covid-19. Titled Dil Na Umeed To Nahi, the upcoming drama is socially relevant, according to the actress.
“With a script by Amna Mufti, Dil Na Umeed To Nahi is a cause-based drama. It is directed by Kashif Nisar,” informs Yumna in an exclusive conversation with Cutacut. She plays the role of Allah Rakhi in it.
The actress shared that the project is being made in collaboration with Kashf Foundation. It is a non-profit, microfinance and wealth management organization.
“The story is based on multiple causes,” the actress furthered. “It has three major tracks: Human trafficking, child abuse and a young girl who wants to become a cricketer. As far as my track is concerned, it is about women trafficking. Parents from slums sell their young daughters. The drama explores where these girls end up and what kind of a life they spend. And, if any of them dreams big, how does she manage to pursue that.”
The cast includes Noman Ijaz, Wahaj Ali, Samiya Mumtaz, Yasra Rizvi, Naveed Shahzad, Nadia Afghan, Omair Rana and Noor ul Hassan. There is an extended cast since there are three different stories.
“I always look forward to cause-based projects in my career,” observed Yumna. “I feel we can send out important messages through them. I don’t demand much for such projects and focus on conveying the message instead. Dil Na Umeed To Nahi will air on TV One shortly. We’ve worked very hard. If I talk about my character, viewers will see me in a completely different avatar. My body language, my gestures and everything is very unique. I’m thankful to my director for giving me the opportunity. We all are looking forward to it.”
