KARACHI: The past week has been quite harrowing for the Pakistani media industry and that is to be expected when a prominent member of the industry is accused of domestic abuse. Feroze Khan has been facing a lot of backlash from peers and colleagues following his ex-wife’s claims and photographic evidence of his gross physical abuse. And in the forefront of taking the side of the victim is Iqra Aziz who announced her decision to retract her project with Feroze Khan.

Iqra Aziz and Feroze Khan had shared the screen on the critically acclaimed drama Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 and so there was an air of excitement over the news of their upcoming drama called Saanwal Yar Piya. They would have been sharing the screen with Imran Ashraf while Wajahat Rauf and Shazia Wajahat were believed to be part of the filming crew. However, Aziz took to social media to announce her decision to back off from the project.
She explained her decision by starting off with a quote that read, “To stay silent in the face of injustice is to side with the oppressor.” She went on to say that the decision is, “difficult but necessary,” and is, “a sign of support for the victims of domestic abuse.” She signed off the note by lending her support to Khan’s ex-wife Alize.

Many took to social media to commend Aziz for taking such a difficult decision to drop out of the project with Feroze Khan. Osman Khalid Butt even praised her for “Leading by example.”

Feroze Khan, however, has denied all accusations levied against him.
