Ranveer Singh’s naked photoshoot: The controversy continues

By Cutacut Editorial Team

KARACHI: Ranveer Singh may be one of the most popular Bollywood actors in current times. From his tremendous talent to quirky fashion sense to being the most devoted husband to Deepika Padukone, there is lots to talk about Singh. However, the reason for his fame (perhaps not in the best way) in recent times is a rather unusual one. Not long ago, the bold and every adventurous actor posed naked for a photoshoot with Paper Magazine. While some made the most out of the occasion with numerous memes, others were left offended by it. To the extent that a complaint was filed against Singh for ” hurting the sentiments of women and insulting their modesty through his photographs.” Seems like that was not the end of the controversy for the actor and the magazine. In latest news, another complaint has been lodged against the provocative photoshoot featuring Ranveer Singh.

According to The Indian Express, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Calcutta High Court seeking directives to the West Bengal government and the authorities concerned to seize all printed copies of Paper Magazine published on July 23 that have Singh’s nude photo as its cover image.

Advocate Nazia Ilahi Khan submitted the plea on the basis that the photos are “obscene as per the opinion of the public at large.” The plea also seeks to have Paper Magazine’s website blocked in West Bengal.

The case is likely to be heard later this week.
