KARACHI: It’s a rare occurrence when Pakistani movies step out of their usual storylines and delve into a new genre. When it was announced that Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Omar were starring in a movie called Javed Iqbal: The untold story of a serial killer, about Pakistan’s very own serial killer, we knew the movie wasn’t going to be for the faint hearted. And the trailer for the movie confirms just that. The first look at the Javed Iqbal movie will give you the chills.

The trailer begins with Javed Iqbal (Yasir Hussain) giving statistics about the number of people in the city of Lahore and comes down to the number of children who go missing in the city. He reasons that no one cares about missing kids because more kids are born on a daily basis. Javed Iqbal continues with his monologue and says he never denies being a child killer and seems to mock the police for their investigation focusing on the wrong question. In a taunting tone, he advises the police to stop asking why he murdered the kids and instead they should try to figure out if he only murdered 100 kids or if the number is more than that.

Another taunts he throws is asking whether any of the kids he kidnapped ever got away. This taunt is directed at what seems to be the character of a mother of a victim who seems be searching for answers about what happened to her son. We also see clips of the chase to catch Javed Iqbal’s accomplices as well as a brief look into his apartment which was no less than a house of horrors.

We also get to see Ayesha Omar as the police officer in charge of finding Javed Iqbal which is a very different role from what she usually takes on. Needless to say we’re excited to watch Javed Iqbal : The untold story of a serial killer.
