KARACHI: Streaming giant Netflix has made its way into the e-commerce arena. While Netflix already has contracts with brands such as Target, Walmart, Sephora and H&M to sell products related to their shows, they upped their game with the launch of its online store. This will be the company’s first owned as well as self-operated outlet that will sell merchandise related to popular original series.
Netflix will sell limited, exclusive, and “carefully selected, high-quality apparel and lifestyle products tied to our shows and brand.” The shop’s first merchandise to roll out will be action figures and streetwear based on the popular anime series Eden and Yasuke. They also have collaborations lined up with up-and-coming designers Jordan Bentley, Nathalie Nguyen, and Kristopher Kites. The collection with the designers will include anime-inspired collectibles.

The shop will also launch limited edition clothes and decorations inspired by the popular French thriller Lupin. From pillows (priced at $60) to a side table (for $150) to caps and even boxer shorts, the Lupin line will be a collaboration with the Musée du Louvre.

Stranger Things, The Witcher, and Money Heist fans will be happy to know their favorite shows haven’t been forgotten. The Netflix shop has plans for merchandise for the shows that will soon be made available.
Netflix’s move into the e-commerce domain comes with reports that the company’s growth has slowed down as new competitors such as Disney + have entered the field. And, unlike other streaming services, Netflix does not run advertisements and instead solely relies on subscription fees. That’s where the Netflix shop, teamed up with Shopify, will step in to increase revenue. With the fandoms of the Netflix shows being extremely loyal, the Netflix shop is bound to be a success.
