KARACHI: Although the exact date for Marvel’s upcoming project Ms. Marvel hasn’t been announced, fans are eagerly waiting for its release. To add to the list of reasons why Pakistanis, in particular, are excited for the project is the fact that Fawad Khan is said to be joining the cast.
BBC Entertainment’s senior journalist Haroon Rashid was one of the first people to break the news about Fawad Khan being a part of the project. He took to Twitter to announce the exciting news. Although neither Marvel or Khan himself have commented on the matter, Rashid pointed out that Khan has been credited as a cast member on IMDb.
“Wow! Fawad Khan set to appear in Ms. Marvel – the Disney+ series about Marvel’s first titular Muslim character. He’s listed on the show’s official IMDB page. Farhan Akhtar, Nimra Bucha, and Samina Ahmad are reportedly part of the cast too. Marvel yet to comment. Amazing if true!” he wrote in a tweet.
A quick search of the Ms. Marvel IMDb page seems to confirm that the news may in fact be true. However, there is no mention about what exactly his role is on the show or if he is a series regular or will only make a guest appearance.
If the reports are in fact true, Khan will be joining other Pakistani actors namely Samina Ahmad and Nimra Bucha. Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is also involved in the project and has been credited to have directed at least three episodes of the series. The lead actor of the show, Iman Vellani, is a Pakistani-Canadian. Other well-known actors who are rumored to be a part of the project include Bollywood star, Farhan Khan.
