KARACHI: Veterans of the industry, Samina Ahmed and Manzar Sehbai are all over the news today because they just tied the knot and made us all very happy.
Samina, a television actor and producer with over 50 years worth of experience in the industry, has several memorable performances to her credit. Manzar also made his mark in the recent revival of Pakistani cinema, first appearing in Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol and then playing a role in Zinda Bhaag and Mah-e-Mir.
It’s uncommon to hear of two people tying the knot in their later years, at least in this part of the world. And perhaps many people might be judgmental about this union, we can imagine that the couple must have heard some unpleasant things.

But that’s exactly why we are absolutely elated about this news. This is pure love being celebrated, in a simple manner and a nice reminder that love and marriage can happen to anyone anywhere, anytime.
There is no age limit and thus, maybe the rest of us can learn a thing or two from Samina and Manzar, that there is no need to rush into a marriage just because society says that it’s time to do it.
