Indian actress Anushka Sharma has spoken up about being frequently ‘blamed’ for her husband Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s performance.
Anushka never really reacted to any of it but she has finally broke the silence. In a statement on Twitter, she reacted strongly to Indian media’s conspiracies and said that she will not allow her name to be dragged over things involving the Indian Cricket team or her husband.
Her statement came after a former wicket keeper, Farokh Engineer, said that he saw one of the selectors “getting Anushka Sharma a cup of tea” during a 2019 world cup match. Anushka has never reacted to these issues before. She never took to social media to respond to trolls or media channels bashing her. She wrote in her statement how she was blamed for Virat’s performance, which she had no control over, “I have stayed quiet through all the times I was blamed for the performance of my then boyfriend, now husband Virat and continue to take the blame for the most baseless things involving Indian cricket. I kept quiet then.”

She also clarified that she was getting no preferential treatment and neither was she a part of any board meetings or selection process, yet people believed in fabricated stories instead of looking for facts or asking the board if they were allowing any such thing. “My name was used for false stories to make it look like the board was being bothered for my tickets or security, etc when in reality I bought my own tickets for matches and flights, and I still kept quiet.” She then mentioned the recent incident and called out to everyone that she won’t stay silent anymore.

“And the latest version of these ill-intended lies is that I was being served tea by selectors at matches during the World Cup! I refuse to allow anyone from using my name in such conversations.”
Anushka also pointed out the fact that she is Kohli’s wife by choice, but she has her own identity as well. She didn’t marry him for any fame or personal gain. She had everything from money to fame and she earned it all herself. “I have led my life, built my own career with utmost dignity and I am not going to compromise that for anything. Maybe, it’s hard for some to believe that. because, I am a self-made, independent woman who only happens to be the wife of a cricketer.”
We are proud of Anushka that she finally spoke for herself.
