KARACHI: With just a little over a month left for the highly anticipated live action Barbie movie
to hit the screens, it seems as though there is already some discontentment. Surprisingly, it isn’t about the movie. Rather it’s about the casting. More particularly about Ryan Gosling as Ken and how he is too old to be playing the role. But the actor isn’t bothered by the critique and instead, calls it “funny.”
There were people hating on the idea of ryan gosling as ken just earlier this year as if anyone else could’ve been more perfect… the movie isn’t even out yet and he’s done everything that there could’ve been done and more with his role #iamobsessed https://t.co/PmYjmn5P4q

The Barbie movie will see Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling playing Barbie and Ken respectively. The trailer promised a whole lot of laughs and fans were over the moon. However, some felt that at 42, Ryan Gosling is too old to be playing Ken and thus, gave rise to the hashtag #notmyKen.
why is ryan gosling ken in the barbie movie that’s so sad that man is ancient

But Ryan Gosling isn’t bothered by the backlash. In an interview with GQ Magazine he said, “I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with.” He found the whole hashtag and age issue funny because he pointed out that Ken’s entire existence has been to just enjoy the beach and not really exist for any sake other than to be Barbie’s guy, “And everyone was fine with that, for him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time.’ No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared.”

Needless to say, many are still very excited to see Ryan Gosling share the screen with Margot Robbie and the star studded ensemble cast, irrespective of his age! July 21st cannot come sooner!
