KARACHI: We are all aware of how toxic social media presence can get. Particularly for public figures, it is no less than a nightmare. One more celebrity comes to the fore and admits how online hate affected her. In a latest online interview with NDTV, Sonam Kapoor reflects on the subject.
“I had some stressful times in the last three or four months, mentally,” Sonam Kapoor shared during the interview over the weekend. “There is a lot of stuff that happens on social media. There is a lot of hate and talk, of a lot of things. It kind of put me in a very low and negative space. But now I am much better.”
It is no news that after Sushant Singh Rajput passes away in June, star kids have been receiving a lot of hate. Sonam being one also attracted criticism for promoting nepotism in the industry. In the interview, she admitted that all of that did take a toll on her.
Earlier on, the Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga actor shared screenshots of hateful messages she received online. Some of them even sought death upon her and her future generation. Sonam Kapoor switched off her and her parents’ comment secti0n at that point. “I don’t want my 64-year-old parents to go through this,” she posted. “They did nothing to deserve this. And I’m not doing it out of fear you morons I’m doing it out of common sense to preserve my mental health and my parents.”
