KARACHI: It is always a treat for viewers when Sarmad Khoosat is a part of a project. His most recent endeavors, Kamli
and Joyland
are proof of just that. However, this time around, the filmmaker and actor has something new up his sleeve. Sarmad Khoosat is revisiting the past with his hit sitcom Shashlik and telefilm Hernaam Kaur and wants to take us along on the journey.
Khoosat rose to fame in the late 1990s when he penned down Shashlik for PTV. The sitcom aired for over three years and was a fan favorite. It starred Khoosat as Cheeku who had a love hate relationship with his cousins played by the likes of Nadia Afghan and Fatima Khan. The writer shared the news on his Instagram channel and wrote, “Enjoy iconic blasts from the past, starting with hit Y2K sitcom, Shashlik. Five episodes out every Saturday on Khoosat Films’ YouTube channel.”

But wait, Shashlik is not the only blast from the past for Sarmad Khoosat’a OG fans! He also announced that his telefilm Hernaam Kaur was also going to be released on YouTube!
The 2003 telefilm is a tribute to the legendary writer Manto, “The gripping telefilm pays homage to Manto’s piercing narrative on the pain of partition and the enigma of gender and identity, inquiring into timeless themes of the human condition. Watch the telefilm on our YouTube channel at 8:00pm on Friday, 26th August.”

Talking about the re-release of his telefilm Khoosat wrote, “Full of 101 technical and aesthetic blunders and glitches but 101% love and honesty. A lot of friends and fans have asked to make it available online. Am a tad bit nervous about it too, but whatever.”
