KARACHI: 4th October can easily be marked as the day when the world found itself drowning in darkness, cut off from the world. At least that’s what it felt like with Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook facing a 6-hour outage. The only social media outlet that was working was Twitter. Hence, so many celebrities flocked to the site to make light of the predicament. Here are our favorite celebrity reactions.
hello literally everyone

1. Ayesha Omar
Like many of us, Ayesha Omar just wasn’t able to deal with being cut off from social media. In a series of tweets, she wrote about how it felt like she was back in circa 2004:
Hello 2004.
😩#whatsappdown #instagramdisabled #facebookdown #WHATS_GOIN_ON— Ayesha Omar (@ayesha_m_omar) October 4, 2021
She asked people to tweet so she could feel normal again:
Haaaaan bhaeee. Who’s eating what and where? Who’s wearing what and where? Who’s liking what and why? Who said what to who? And then what was their reply? Tweet karain please. So I can feel normal again.

And by the end of her tweet spree, she had had enough. Same Ayesha, same.

2. Asim Azhar
The crooner took advantage of the outage to connect with his fans on Twitter and began a trend #AskAsim. He handed out advice:
And he handed out an Asim Jofa jora to a disgruntled fan. The fact that Whatsapp was part of the outage and he had to send a text makes this tweet even better:
Yaaar. I’m sorry that happened.
But I just spoke to my friend @asimjofa for you & he will make you a happy girl. 😊 send him your details!!#AskAsim https://t.co/e6zMfnwJOs pic.twitter.com/bVRHV9lwsf

3. Vir Das
Like a true desi, comedian Vir Das had his own conspiracy theories about what went down at the Facebook headquarters. Also, he took the outage as a possible business venture. Being honest, we’d definitely watch this movie:
I love a good conspiracy. Already imagining the movie about the pandora papers and facebook whistleblower all connected leading to a backroom meeting where they take a deep breath and pull the plug. Kate Winslet is in it. I audition for the Indian tech guy and don’t get it.

4. Snoop Dogg
In a surprising twist of events, the wisest word of advice came from a man who fluctuates between calling himself Snoop Dogg and Snoop Lion:
Ig down? Roll one and be productive 💨

5. Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon too took the opportunity to put into words and a GIF of what Twitter had been feeling since the outage:
All other social platforms today: Kaput.

The good news is that all three social media platforms are back and everyone can finally take a sigh of relief. It’ll take a while to reel back from the historical Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram outage but we’ll be fine eventually.
