Mahira Khan all set to dazzle the big screen with three upcoming films

KARACHI: The year 2020 did not see any local film coming out in cinemas owing to the coronavirus outbreak. However, 2021 has a lot lined up, if life goes back to normal post-pandemic. Multiple big-banner, high profile films are set to release next year. Some actors will be seen in more than one film, due to a gap this year, which is not the case usually. One of them is Mahira Khan, who has three upcoming movies in the pipeline. She recently won two awards at the Lux Style Awards 2020 for her last film Superstar, in both the critics and viewer’s choice category.

It’s her birthday today and looking back at 2020, she has been on a roll this year. She made it to BBC’s Top 100 Women 2020, followed by Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list, among other things. Speaking of 2021, let’s take a look at upcoming movies that will star Mahira Khan as the protagonist.

Neelofar

Recently, superstar Mahira Khan took to social media and announced wrapping up her film Neelofar. Starring opposite Fawad Khan, the film has been shot in Lahore. “I take with me a piece of you… leaving a bit of my soul with you. My darling 𝓝𝓮𝓮𝓵𝓸𝓯𝓪𝓻, I shall miss you, oh so much,” Mahira wrote in the caption. “Here is a shout out to all those who worked on this film. Each and every one of them put their heart and soul in it. Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon. Ameen.”

Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad

Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s highly anticipated Quaid e Azam Zindabad is also set to release next year. The film stars Mahira Khan opposite Fahad Mustafa and the two will share the screen for the first time. This has both Mahira and Fahad’s fans excited. Fahad Mustafa features as a cop in the upcoming film that looks like a complete entertainer. Going by the teaser that is giving a Bollywood vibe, the film has potential to be the next blockbuster. Like all of Nabeel and Fizza’s films, Quaid e Azam Zindabad will also be socially relevant.

The Legend of Maula Jatt

The second film that will feature Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan together is The Legend of Maula Jatt. The long-delayed project was supposed to release on Eid ul Fitr this year but it got postponed due to Covid-19. Directed by Bilal Lashari and produced by Ammara Hikmat, the film is not along the lines of the previous version of Maula Jatt – as per claims of the makers. It also features Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick and Gohar Rasheed in key roles. Let’s wait and see when the film comes out.
