Neelam Muneer says she only did an item song because of ISPR

The Pakistani actress revealed that this will be the first and last item number of her life

KARACHI: Pakistani actress and model Neelam Muneer, who is famous for her roles in Dil Mom Ka Diya and Jal Pari, posted a three-minute video of an item song that she did for the upcoming film Kaaf Kangna. The film is due to be released around the end of October. The actress stirred up some controversy online not only because she did an item number (which actresses like Mehwish Hayat, Ayesha Omar and Humaima Malik  have previously been shamed for by Pakistani audiences) but because of her caption that came along with the post.

The actress stated, “I did this song only because this movie is a project of ISPR. Perhaps this is the first and last item song of my life. But you all know that what ever I do, I own it and I do it with pride. Pakistan key liey mari jan hamesha hazir hey. I’m sure you all will go and watch this movie. Enjoy !!! #kaafkangna

Neelam Munir’s seemingly patriotic post, comically suggested that this will be the first and last item song of her life with all credit due to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The ISPR is the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces which broadcasts and coordinates military news and information to the country’s civilian media and the civic society.

Users online were not happy with the actress suggesting that an item number was a project of the ISPR. Some also suggested that there doesn’t seem to be any benefit that ISPR can gain from this song.
