KARACHI: Qandeel Baloch’s brother, Waseem Khan has been sentenced to 25 years in prison by a model court in Multan. In 2016, Qandeel’s brother had admitted to drugging and killing his sister in the name of honour.

According to Geo TV, others accused in the case have been acquitted by the court. The names included Mufti Abdul Qavi, Qandeel’s other two brothers, Aslam Shaheen and Arif.

Earlier this year, Qandeel’s parents tried to pardon the sons as the law previously allowed other family members to forgive the murderer. However, as a result of this case, that law was changed. Muhammad Azeem tried to argue that since the said law was changed after the murder, he should be allowed to forgive his sons.

However, the court rejected the plea.

The court’s decision has been received with much applause, however many are disappointed that Mufti Qavi has been acquitted.
