KARACHI: Virat Kohli is considered to be one of the best cricketers in the world at the moment. Naturally, he has many fans and with his form back in shape, many would expect that there is little that Kohli has to worry about. However, Virat Kohli does have to worry about a gross invasion of his privacy during his stay in a hotel during the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.

Kohli took to Instagram to share a 30 second clip of an unidentified person giving a tour of the player’s hotel room during his World Cup stay. The video has text which simply states, “King Kohli’s hotel room” and goes on to show his personal belongings on his table, his shoes neatly lined up and an open suitcase. The person making the video even opens his closet for a peek inside.

Kohli was naturally appalled with the video and wrote, “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy.” He went on to question, “If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy.” He ended his note reminding his fans that fans should not, “treat them [players] as a commodity for entertainment.”

The invasive tour of the Virat Kohli World Cup hotel room garnered quite a lot of shock in the comments section as well. Australian cricketer David Warner called the video “ridiculous, totally unacceptable.” Vikas Kohli was alarmed at the hotel management and wrote, “This is really very unprofessional whom so ever did it, im assuming it must be the hotel staff only , else if its some other fans its a total disaster from the hotel management… WHERE IS THE SECURITY AND PRIVACY OF THE GUEST… this is very alarming.” Celebrities such as Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan also commented on the post expressing their shock.

There has been no statement released by the hotel on the matter so far.
