KARACHI: Amazon’s much-awaited Lord of the Rings series has finally gotten it’s release date for 2nd September 2022. The series had been announced back in 2017 and filming began last year in February. Along with the premiere date announcement, fans were also treated to a first look at the poster for the upcoming series.

Ever since the streaming service revealed they planned to bring Middle Earth back to our screens, they’ve been pretty tight-lipped about the project. Scarce information was provided about the casting for the show, but it did reveal that fans should expect a whole lot of characters to be included in the show. The show’s official Twitter account also revealed information about the show that fans were quick to pick up on. The tweet showed the map of Middle Earth which included the lost continent of Númeno.

The story of this area predates the events of The Fellowship of the Ring by thousands of years. The official Twitter account also verified a post that claimed that the series would take place years before the time period shown in movies and would also feature “the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen.”

Considering the fact that the season will have a lot to cover and will have to do so in a limited time frame, Amazon decided back in November 2019 to renew the show for a second season, before it even began. The first season itself is said to have had a budget of around $450 million.

Here’s what to expect from Money Heist season 5

The series has big shoes to fill. The Lord of the Rings movies are often considered to be the greatest and most influential film series ever made and are amongst the highest-grossing of all times.
