KARACHI: Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui was recently invited by his neighbors, Sarwat Gilani and Fahad Mirza for the latter’s birthday party. The event had many of Mirza and Gilani’s close friends from the industry who had gotten together for a qawwali night to celebrate Mirza’s 40th.

Among the attendees were also Frieha Altaf, Mansha Pasha, and Tapu Javeri. One could hardly see any of them wearing a mask in a video shared by Fahad Mirza. Sheheryar Munawar, however, comes into the limelight because of his Twitter activity. The Ho Mann Jahan star had been tweeting regarding the importance of SOPs and why it is high time that we ensure safety for ourselves and others around us.
“Let’s please refrain from putting the health/safety of our students at risk, and instead find an alternate for physical exams. These students are the future of our country,” he tweeted.
Soon enough, people started to call him out for his actions standing contrary to his words.
To this, Sheheryar Munawar took to his Instagram and Twitter to explain how he only stayed at the birthday for about 5 minutes and had only taken off his mask for the picture. He did not know the event would have more guests than he had imagined but was rightly called out for his actions. Towards the end of his statement, he urged his followers to take SOPs outlined by the government more seriously and ensure safety for ourselves and others around us.
A follower quickly pointed out that five minutes alone are enough to spread the infection. To which Munawar replied, “You’re right! Like I said, no justifications for my actions. I was wrong and I stand corrected.”
