KARACHI: Perhaps one of the biggest collaborations of the year just released online and it’s already making waves. Asim Azhar and Shamoon Ismail are joined by Talha Anjum, Talhah Yunus and Raamis for the track Tum Tum, a hip-hop track with Eastern elements.
Collaborations between artists is common but this is one of the few occasions where more than two artists have come together for a song. While Asim Azhar and Shamoon Ismail are big names that don’t need an introduction, Anjum and Yunus of Young Stunners fame and Raamis are young rappers who are also making their place in the music industry. Hania Amir and Mooroo also made special appearances in the music video.
Unsurprisingly, the song has exploded online, garnering over 1.4 million views in less than 24 hours. This is perhaps one of the fastest millions any Pakistani song has hit in recent time.
While the song itself is getting a mixed reaction online, 150,000 likes and 50,000 dislikes on YouTube, what’s really standing out is Pakistani Twitter and their meme game. Hania Amir, who appears in the video for a few seconds, has been the source of a lot of inspiration for many meme-creators.
