K-town: A round up of what’s happening in the city this weekend

KARACHI: If you have no plans for the weekend yet, here are few things you can do:

1. Hafta Itvaar Art Bazaar 2019

An open art bazaar, this two-day affair will be promoting and selling the hard work of craftspeople and artists. A lot of fun-filled things will be happening at the T2f cafe, inside the Faraar Galley, at the rooftop and possibly outside in the street too. This is a happening event so please go prepared to meet new people and roam around the building. Entrance fee: Rs. 200. Dress warm (read: Karachi winter appropriate).

In the February of 2017, during T2F's "A Community Affair" which celebrated the reception of The Prince Claus Award to our organisation, Summaiya Jillani and her students from the T2F's atelier — a workshop she regularly conducts with us — painted a mural of our founder, Sabeen Mahmud, in our parking space. Surrounded by tablas, film reels, and flowers, the mural symbolized everything Sabeen loved and that T2F stands for. However, in the last few months, the city's dust, smog, and rains have left the mural covered in a thick layer of grime. Join us during this year's Hafta Itwar Art Bazaar as Summaiya returns with her IVS and T2F students to re-do and also expand the mural, accentuating its tones and brining life back to it! This is a community-inclusive mural painting activity. So bring your old aprons, paints, brushes, and bring your energy! . . . . Join us for a brand new edition of T2F’s cult mini weekend festival – ‘Hafta Itvaar Art Bazaar 2019’ – happening on 19th and 20th of January! Hafta Itvaar Art Bazaar is a two-day party held at T2F that celebrates our cross-cultural, inter-disciplinary cultural activities based around an open Art Bazaar showcasing, promoting and selling the work of diverse artists and craftspeople! Multiple activities will be taking place throughout the weekend inside the Faraar Gallery on the ground floor, our Café on the 1st floor, our open air Rooftop, and even spilling out on the Streets around our building! Make sure to dress warm, and be prepared to make random friendships while you walk up and down and around our building chasing after your favourite event or Art activity. 2. Support Group for Women: Separated and Divorced Women

Divorce and separation in never an easy time for couples. It can be over-whelming and lonely. British Council has arranged a support group meet-up this weekend for women to get together and share their experiences. Registration fee is Rs.400 for non-members.

3. PBWRP Literary Festival 2019

Here’s your chance to be part of a huge community of writers, bloggers, poets and readers. These people will get together and share their prose and poems and is supposed to be a great networking event.

4. Aurat Chai Baithak

Just a casual event by Aurat Haq over a cup of tea where women will have chai and talk vent about everything from patriarchy to sexism and all that’s wrong with the world.
