KARACHI: If he isn’t scaling the tallest building in the world or jumping out of planes or performing insane stunts, then Tom Cruise is planning a movie in outer space. No, we aren’t exaggerating and no, you did not read the sentence wrong. It’s true, Tom Cruise is set to star in a new movie which will have scenes shot in outer space.

The news came directly from Donna Langley, the head of Universal Pictures, who, in an interview with BBC, shed some light on the project. She revealed that Tom Cruise will be starring in an action movie directed by Doug Liman, both of whom worked together on the movie Edge of Tomorrow. Speaking about the whole Tom Cruise in space idea, Langley said, “Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom, that does contemplate him doing just that. Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”
Langley also revealed that while the movie will see Tom Cruise in outer space, it “actually [mostly] takes place on Earth, and then the character needs to go up to space to save the day.” She also described Cruise’s character as “a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”

While further details about the project are being kept under wraps, it was revealed that the cast and crew are working with NASA and Elon Musk's Space X and this is the first time a Hollywood studio has ever filmed a feature film in space.
It seems as though Tom Cruise is in no way planning to retire!
