KARACHI: As content and visual storytelling takes centre stage while the world around us quickly digitizes all its best parts, streaming platforms like UrduFlix, recently launched by Emax Media are playing a pivotal role in building viewership with their new, experimental content.
UrduFlix, a platform launched as the first-ever Urdu OTT platform in Pakistan has become the talk of the town by quickly taking social media by storm. As the platform keeps expectations high, UrduFlix has also promised to bring in 40 new original web series for their audiences by mid-2021. Each is expected to deal with a different and unique storyline.
The platform is set to bring in fresh talent into the industry as well and will be showcasing TikTok stars like Hareem Shah whose story is told unfiltered through Raaz, and cricketing legend Fawad Alam who stars in Khudkash Muhabbat.
There are many other big names that will soon be disclosed over the course of time. Thriller, crime, romance, rom-com, UrduFlix will be bringing in genres left largely unexplored till now. Some of these narratives depict strong female characters with lives out of the ordinary.
The platform garnered mostly positive feedback for its first-ever web series, Dulhan Aur Raat starring Alizeh Shah. The streaming service can be accessed via Google Playstore and Apple Store for download. UrduFlix is not only set to bring original Urdu films and web series but is also working towards dubbing more Turkish web series in Urdu for their audience to also be able to enjoy Turkish content.
