KARACHI: In August 2020, Sanjay Dutt took a break from work to focus on his health as he was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Fans and film enthusiasts across the globe were taken aback by the news of the actor’s deteriorating health. However, three months later, the actor has revealed that he has “come out victorious” from the battle against cancer. The news was broken on his social media and coincided with his kids’ birthday.

“My heart is filled with gratitude as I share this news with all of you today,” Dutt captioned his post. It read, “The last few weeks were very difficult for my family and me. But as they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can – the health and well-being of our family.”

Dutt also expressed immense gratitude towards his friends, family and fans, who supported him throughout his battle. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time. Thank you for the love, kindness and the countless blessings that you have sent my way,” read his note.

Sanjay Dutt also thanked Dr Sewanti and the team at Kokilaben Hospital for taking good care of him as he underwent treatment for cancer. The actor has also recently returned to work and has been sharing some looks from his upcoming project, Adheera.
