KARACHI: The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk spoke about the company’s latest creation the “Cybertruck” that resembles a car from Blade Runner. The Cybertruck is a pick-up truck that Elon has been “wanting to make for a long time”, according to an interview last year with Recode. The car resembles something you would see in the future, or has described it, “something that’s like super-futuristic cyberpunk.”
At the recent event unveiling of the pick-up truck in California, Elon introduced the car as being extremely durable and because of it’s armored windows was safe, unlike other cars whose main “vulnerability” are its windows. He further exuded confidence in the hall by saying “It’s basically crazy to buy anything other than a Tesla.”
The introduction proceeded into the demonstration of the durability of the windows and that’s where things took an unexpected turn. Elon was left stunned after an aide hurled a metalic ball at the window that managed to smash it. Tesla had previously claimed that the windows should be able to “absorb and redirect impact force.”
To his embarrassment, Elon exclaimed ‘Oh my f***king God’ which was followed by him suggested that the window smashed maybe because the aide’s throw was “too hard.” In his defense he added that the fact that the metallic ball didn’t smash all the way through the window was impressive. Yet, he identified that there is an obvious room for improvement.
The fact that this demonstration was conducted in-front of a wide audience could also have something to do with it, Elon suggested “”We threw wrenches, we threw everything, we even literally threw the kitchen sink at the glass, and it didn’t break. For a little weird reason it broke now, I don’t know why. You know, fix it in post.”
Twitter users have not gone easy on the company since then.
