A case of word vomit featuring Nabil Gabol

KARACHI: A valuable lesson in life is to be careful about what you say in public. And if anyone truly needs to be reminded of this lesson it is PPP’s Nabil Gabol. Over the past few days, the former member of the National Assembly made some outrages statements and then apologized by making some even more outrageous statements. Here is a breakdown of Nabil Gabol and his shocking stance on rape.

It all began two days ago when the PPP leader was invited on Shehzad Ghias’s podcast. While on the topic of being overpowered by the opposition, Nabil Gabol made his insane rape analogy. He claimed there is an English proverb that goes, “When rape is imminent, enjoy it.” Ghias, for his part, looked uncomfortable as he tried to refute the statement by claiming that there is no such proverb. Undeterred, Gabol went on to say, “When rape is imminent, just enjoy it.” He also claimed that if the victim has honor, they should fight against the rape.

Naturally, people were horrified by the statements made and took to social media to express their disgust.

It did not take long for the Pakistan People’s Party to take note of what their minister was saying and issued a show cause notice where Gabol was given 3 days to explain his remarks.

The show cause noticed forced Nabil Gabol to take back what he said about rape and clarify that he absolutely condemns rape and that his statements were misinterpreted. He claimed he was not talking about women being raped and was rather talking about society as a whole. But, in the midst of his clarifications, Gabol decided to make a political statement to make himself out to be the victim. He claimed that this whole fiasco was started by his rival party PTI to make him more “popular.”

And his word vomit did not end there. Just hours after apologizing for his remarks regarding rape, Gabol made yet another problematic statement. This time, he quoted Imran Khan and implied that the PTI leader did not receive the same criticism for his comments because he is thin and handsome.

Needless to say, Nabil Gabol hasn’t done himself any favors with his outrageous statements!
