KARACHI: It’s been a while since pictures of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling dressed as Barbie and Ken made rounds on the internet and since then, everyone has been anxiously waiting for a first glimpse of the Barbie movie. The wait is finally over with the trailer finally dropping and if there is one thing that is for sure, the Barbie movie is straight out of our childhoods!
The much awaited trailer promises a whole lot of goofiness in the movie. Margot Robbie’s Barbie is as beautiful as she is a ditz. Complimenting those characteristics is Ryan Gosling’s Ken who is equally dense as he is vain and does not go anywhere without his roller skates! The two make quite the pair. The trailer doesn’t give much away in terms of plot. As per the official synopsis of the movie, “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.” Pink and plastic, Barbie Land doesn’t seem to have space for imperfections which might lead to Barbie being banished to the terrifying real world. But with Ken by her side, an adventure will definitely follow!
Directed by Greta Gerwig, the movie has quite the star studded cast. While Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling play the Barbie and Ken power couple, there are a number of other Barbies which include Issa Rae as President Barbie, Dua Lipa as Mermaid Barbie and Emma Mackey as Physicist Barbie. On the other hand, America Ferrera and Ariana Greenblatt play humans in the movie.
The movie is set to hit theatres on July 21st of this year and we cannot wait!
