Gohar Rasheed announces his next drama

KARACHI: The incredibly talented actor Mirza Gohar Rasheed recently took to social media to announce his upcoming television play Laapata. Going by his caption, the new drama will also feature Sarah Khan, Ali Rehman Khan and Ayeza Khan in key roles.

The post also reveals that the drama has been directed by Khizer Idress while it is being produced under the banner of Momina Duraid Productions for Hum TV.

According to a source close to the upcoming drama serial, Sarah Khan will be playing the role of an athlete. Something that is very different from the two roles she has played recently i.e., Miraal in Sabaat, and Zohra in the ongoing Raqs-e-Bismil. Both of her former roles have expanded the actor’s range and proven that she can take up very different roles other than a damsel in distress.

We have yet to see what Ayeza Khan brings to the table in this one. Her last performance, i.e., Meenu from Chupke Chupke was a character we never imagined her playing. Seeing her play a childish girl, acting irresponsibly while sporting a cool binder in her hand and sneakers in her feet, Ayeza Khan showed us yet again how acting comes easy to her. However, for a scene later in the play, Ayeza Khan takes back her seriousness and shifts from her comedic role to a serious one.

Another actor joining the cast is Asma Abbas who will once again be seen alongside Ayeza Khan after their last project together, Chupke Chupke.

Ali Rehman Khan, on the other hand, is currently starring opposite Madiha Imam in Safar Tamam Hua. Let’s wait and see what Laapata holds in store for his fans.

Speaking of Gohar Rasheed, who recently posted about the upcoming project, he has proved his range as an actor time and again. His current alongside Sarmad Khoosat, Bushra Ansari, and Shaista Lodhi in Pardes is a testament to that.

We’re eager to see what this star-studded, upcoming drama has on offer for us.
