Hadiqa Kiani on her acting debut with Raqeeb Se

KARACHI: Hadiqa Kiani is certainly on a roll. The incredible singer recently made her acting debut with drama serial Raqeeb Se that went on air in January. She also recently released a soulful track titled, ‘Jaanay Iss Dil’, which is also a visual treat. Ever since her acting debut, she has been receiving praise left, right and centre for she doesn’t look like she is acting for the first time. Playing the part of Sakina, who belongs to a rural area, Hadiqa Kiani recently opened up about stepping into the world of acting with Raqeeb Se.

“I am doing acting because I wanted to challenge myself,” she shared in video surfacing on the internet. “The character of Sakina aligns deep down with the layers of my life. Every individual has layers and this is one that I’m exploring, scratching and discovering while I search for myself. When I gradually absorbed the character of Sakina, there is so much pain yet there is so much resilience so there is a lot to learn.”

She went on to say that it is a completely different atmosphere for her where she is working 12 hours straight. “The cast is very supportive in every way – script, rehearsals, scenes, etc. They are there for me. I have been doing music videos for 24 years but I had not seen the world of acting before this. I am not Hadiqa Kiani, I’m Sakina on the set.”

Written By Bee Gul and directed by Kashif Nisar, Raqeeb Se is an interesting yet complex take on love. The incredibly talented cast including Sania Saeed, Noman Ijaz, Faryal Mehmood and Iqra Aziz come as a cherry on top. The drama is a must-watch and well-deserving of the praise it has been gathering. The thrid episode goes on-air tonight.
