Bollywood welcomes Imran Khan as Prime Minister

KARACHI: Amongst many things, newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed his plans of fixing Pakistan’s relationship with India in his victory speech on Thursday. “I was saddened by the way Indian media recently projected me,” he spoke in his address. “They portrayed me as a Bollywood villain. I am one of those Pakistanis who wants good relations with India,” he said.

While it remains to be seen whether Khan is able to do just that, it seems that many Bollywood stars from across the border are looking forward to seeing Imran Khan as Pakistan’s Prime Minister. Actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Jaaved Jaaferi and Rishi Kapoor immediately took to Twitter to congratulate him.

His victory speech at 92 cricket World Cup made my father predict- “yeh banda pakka ek din Pakistan ka PM banega.” And it happened today. Congrats @ImranKhanPTI sir. Have always been a fan. Now you have the biggest responsibility of bringing peace and harmony in the subcontinent.
