KARACHI: Since people in Karachi often complain about not having anything to do over the weekend, we decided to help you out with a list of recommendations of all the events you should attend. You’re welcome!

1. Girls Night Out (ONLY FOR LADIES) – The Khawatoons

An evening of “adult” comedy for all the ladies who could use a little bit of unwinding. The entry fee is Rs600 but trust us, it’ll be worth it.

2. Book Launch – Our Asma Jahangir

Launch of a book based on the life of a woman who was a force to be reckoned with, Asma Jahangir. This launch will then be followed by a panel discussion comprising of the following speakers: Justice Majjida Rizvi, Uzma Noorani, Kaiser Bengali, Mohd Ali Shah, Munner Memon, and Javed Qazi.

Asma Jahangir was a human rights activist and lawyer who fought her entire career for vulnerable and marginalized individuals and communities. From defending a freed bonded labour untouchable (Dalit) peasant from Thar to a Christian victim of fake blasphemy charges in the remote areas of southern Punjab, she changed the lives of millions of voiceless individuals. She was a hope for the families of missing people in Balochistan and enforced disappeared victims of Sindh. She opposed all kinds of state oppression at the national, regional, and international level. Come join us for the launch of the book ‘Our Asma Jahangir’. This book brings together the writings of several people from all over the world and is a tribute to the great Asma Jahangir’s life and achievements. Her contemporary comrades, legislators, friends, admirers, followers, and students have written pieces in attempt to eulogize her crucial contribution to human rights advocacy, peace, interfaith harmony, and social justice. 3. Flea Market for a Cause – Care for Health

Two birds, one stone: get your summer shopping sorted and feel good about knowing that proceeds from the sale will be used to support education and mental health at this event held by Kiran Foundation and Care for Health.
