Wahaj Ali, Yumna Zaidi unite for Siraj-ul-Haq’s next

KARACHI: Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi are definitely two of the best actors that young talent from Pakistan has to offer at the moment. And when paired together, they create magic on screen. Hence, fans would be delighted to know that after the success of Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi, Ali and Zaidi are ready to share the small screen again in a new drama for Geo Entertainment. While the name of the drama is yet to be revealed, other details have been announced including three teasers for the 7th Sky Entertainment production.

Directed by Siraj-ul-Haq, the new drama will see Wahaj Ali as Murtasim while Yumna Zaidi will play Meerab. Murtasim belongs to an influential family where power and violence are very much a part of his lifestyle. Heir to the family throne, it is narrated that no one dare disagree with Murtasim, nor hold him accountable. Until Meerab walks into the picture, adamant on doing both.

Naturally, Murtasim and Meerab lock horns while one is blinded by his entitlement and the other is guided by her morals and values. While it is not categorically stated how the two are related and exist in the same environment, the lead characters ultimately seem to fall in love. However, the journey is not going to be a simple one.

While Ali and Zaidi are both masters of their crafts, we do have our reservations about the drama after looking at the teasers. Murtasim’s character seems to have hints of Shamsher from Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi specially with shots of him living a lavish lifestyle, gun violence, the sense of entitlement and dragging Meerab away from her own wedding.

Perhaps the drama will prove us wrong once it goes on air and have much more to offer than the teasers give away. Till then, audiences can watch their favourite actors in the ongoing Bakhtawar and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha.
