Usman Mukhtar, Madiha Imam to star in Nadeem Baig’s short film

KARACHI: The past 2 years have undoubtedly been some of the most difficult times in recent years. The world was turned upside down due to the COVID pandemic and we are still reeling from it. The pandemic took its toll on families, especially. Many people lost their jobs while spouses had to step up to help with expenses. Work from home and online school meant more of a load on the stay-at-home wives and mothers. And that is the story that the new Usman Mukhtar and Madiha Imam-starrer short film aims to tell.

Titled Aik To Tum Aurtain and directed by ace director Nadeem Baig (who directed the likes of Jawani Phir Nai Aani and Sinf-e-Ahan) the project will be released on SeePrime. Aik To Tum Aurtain has been dedicated “To the homemakers in our life without whom we could not survive the disaster of Covid 19.” The new short film will see Madiha Imam and Usman Mukhtar in lead roles as a happy couple and parents whose life is turned upside down when Mukhtar loses his job due to the pandemic. His frustrations seem to get the better of him and he comes down hard on his wife. He is especially over critical about her spending, even if it is on basic household expenses.

For her part, we see Madiha Imam working endlessly with her regular chores and it is later hinted that she has found a way to supplement the income at home. Mukhtar questions where the money in her bag is coming from and whether it is charity. That is when audiences realize that she is trying to help with the expenses.
