KARACHI: Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay is one of the most intriguing dramas on air at the moment. Many may have already read the novel by Umera Ahmed and hence, are familiar with the storyline. Yet, Pakistanis continue to watch the serial every Sunday. Viewers were also quick to choose sides and pick their favourite characters. Mehreen has been an audience favourite since the beginning while Mashal is now out of the picture. Audiences, however, have much to say about Aswad after episode 10 of Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay went on air last night.
Aswad’s character is problematic, to say the least. Even Usman Mukhtar was hesitant to play the character when the role was first offered to him. With each episode, Aswad shocks the audience more and more. Not having many opinions of his own or much of a reaction to anything, in fact, Aswad does not seem very upset by Mashal’s (Kubra Khan) death. Twitter did not miss the fact that the man did not shed a single tear over someone he apparently loved so much.
Surprisingly, some viewers do not entirely hate Aswad. For them, he might as well be the victim. So much so, what is more important than Mashal’s death is for Aswad to have complete ownership over Mehreen, and seeing Safwan (Haroon Rashid) come to her aid is painful for him. Aswad is out here selling a very toxic idea of love and some people seem to be buying it.
This is not to say that Safwan’s supporters don’t exist. They very much do. And if they could speak to Mehreen (Mahira Khan), they would have only one thing to say.
Twitter also has some advice for all the boys out there.
Let’s not entirely take away Aswad’s moment to shine though. The man had an epiphany in the latest episode and finally voiced what viewers had been screaming since last week. “Maybe Mashal killed herself,” he says. After all, he did know the extent Mashal was ready to go to, especially after she clearly told him that she will be the one to end the whole chapter.
Twitter also did not overlook Mahira Khan’s phenomenal performance in the episode and was all praises for the actor.
