Boy band BTS takes the stage at UN headquarters

KARACHI: Millions of people tuned in to watch the United Nations meeting take place earlier this week but it wasn’t because they wanted to watch a head of state address the people. The boy band that is known for their dance moves and songs have an incredibly strong fan base around the world and it makes sense that the South Korean government appointed the band as a special presidential envoy for future generations and culture. Here’s what they had to say.

The band was accompanied by President Moon Jae-in of South Korea and they showed a video of themselves performing in the empty aisles of Assembly Hall. Addressing the younger generation, Kim Nam-joon the group’s leader, who performs under the stage name RM said, “I’ve heard that people in their teens and 20s today are being referred to as Covid’s lost generation. But I think it’s a stretch to say they’re lost just because the path they tread can’t be seen by grown-up eyes.”

The group also encourage getting vaccinated. J-hope, another group member, addressed the speculation of whether the group was vaccinated and assured fans that all seven members were, “Of course, we received vaccinations. The vaccination was a sort of ticket to meeting our fans waiting for us and to being able to stand here before you today.”
