KARACHI: We earlier reported that Mohib Mirza and Sana Javed will be gearing up for Neeli Zinda Hai, however, the recently released teasers of the drama hint towards a slightly different cast. Starring Mohib Mirza and Sonia Mishal, the teasers hint towards an intense storyline based around an absent father, a mute child and a secret love interest. Mirza and Mishal adapt the roles of a married couple with the latter being largely responsible for their daughter who cannot speak.
Urwa Hocane makes a very brief but rather interesting appearance in one of the teasers as she sneaks around the couple’s new house wearing a red dress. Will she be playing the role of Mohib Mirza’s secret love interest or second wife? Moreover, has Hocane replaced Sana Javed in the drama, who was previously reported to be playing the role of Neeli? Kinza Malik will be essaying the role of Mohib Mirza’s mother in the drama while Adeel Razaq has written the script.
Qasim Ali Mureed, the director of the drama had shared in a conversation with Cutacut that Neeli Zinda Hai “is a classic love story that talks about the past and present simultaneously.” He added, “It is not a run of the mill project; it has its own uniqueness.”
Telling the story of a mute child, the storyline truly does look promising and unique. A particularly moving dialogue in the teaser is when Mohib Mirza’s character has a conversation with his mother regarding the role a woman’s fate plays when it comes to children. For a nation that is obsessed with wanting sons and often sees daughters as a burden and blames women for the gender of the child, it is a breath of fresh air to witness Neeli Zinda Hai address the matter differently.
Jenaan Hussain has also been spotted amongst cast members for the project but her role is yet to be revealed. For details like these and the release date, one will have to keep an eye out for the official trailer.
