WhatsApp is now on Status and Twitter has got no chill

KARACHI: As soon as I checked WhatsApp statuses this morning, the first thing I saw was a series of statuses by WhatsApp itself. There were four of them and it was rather weird. The first one said, “WhatsApp is now on Status – We’ll let you know about new features and updates here.” The next two promise, “one thing that isn’t new is our commitment to your privacy, WhatsApp can’t read or listen to your personal conversations as they are end-to-end encrypted.” The final status read “Stay tuned for more updates.”

Ever since WhatsApp has appeared on Status, #Whatsapp is trending on Twitter. There is an outburst of memes with some of the most hilarious takes on the subject.

With the new update, WhatsApp tries to remind users that the app does not violate anyone’s privacy. It also aims to keep their users posted via their statuses. However, going by the reactions to it, it does not look like it is making any difference. What’s done cannot be undone, perhaps!
