Rihanna stuns with her Super Bowl performance

KARACHI: The Super Bowl is one of the most exciting sporting events in America. And for those who do not watch NFL, the halftime performance is something to look forward to. Fans were over the roof when it was announced that 9 time Grammy Award winner Rihanna would be performing at the Super Bowl Halftime and the singer did not disappoint.

In an all-red ensemble custom-made for her by luxury labels Loewe and Alaïa, the singer kicked off her 13-minute halftime show on a suspended platform singing “Bitch Better Have My Money”. Rihanna serenaded the Super Bowl audience with her popular songs including “Rude Boy” and “Umbrella” and closed off the show with “Diamonds”. In a pre-performance interview, the singer revealed how difficult it was to choose songs which spanned over her 18 year career in just 13 minutes, “The setlist was the biggest challenge. That was the hardest part — deciding how to maximize 13 minutes, but also celebrate. That’s what the show’s going to be — it’s going to be a celebration of my catalog in the best way.”

The Super Bowl halftime show marked Rihanna’s first live public performance in six years. The singer has spent more time focusing on her beauty and lingerie empire which she managed to include in her performance. Her backup dancers wore white hooded jackets which opened up to reveal articles from the underwear brand.

In true Rihanna style, the singer took the Super Bowl Halftime to announce her second pregnancy as well! In an interview last week, she was asked if she had any surprises planned for performance and she replied, “I’m thinking about bringing someone. I’m not sure, we’ll see.” While many speculated that she was planning to bring Jay Z or Eminem as guests, little did anyone know she was actually referring to someone else entirely. Rihanna already shares a 9-month-old son with singer A$AP Rocky.

Needless to say, this will definitely go down as a performance to remember!
