Teaser for Azaan Sami Khan’s new music video is out

KARACHI: Over the past few days Azaan Sami Khan has been teasing his fans with glimpses of a new song. Between pictures of him looking dapper in a bow tie and suit as well as glimpses of a Gatsby-esque Karachi from the 60s, we also learned that the leading lady for the music video would be none other than Maya Ali. The week’s worth of wait was worth it because the teaser for the new song has definitely caught our eye.

Azaan Sami Khan revealed that the new song is titled ‘Ik Lamha’ and as per the singer it is, “A love letter to the city I grew up in, my city, my home….Karachi.” Directed by Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, the video promises to be nothing short of dramatic complete with horse carts, burlesque style dancers, sizzling chemistry and heartbreak. The teaser begins with Maya Ali’s voiceover as she hints that she’s about to meet Khan for the last time. Between the glimpses of her engagement ring donned on henna colored hands and her puffy 60 style hairdo, she mulls over how, “You don’t believe yourself to be worthy of me, I’ll accept that. But I can’t accept anyone else for myself, how can I convince myself of that? I’m coming to meet you for the last time, tell me what you’ve decided.” As far as the actual song is concerned, the teaser hints at a fusion of genres. The qawali style chorus is sung with an electric guitar in the background, coupled with Khan crooning about heartbreak.

Both Azaan Sami Khan and Maya Ali look like a sight for sore eyes in the video for the new song and there’s no denying that they have sizzling onscreen chemistry. While the lyric video is out, we’ll have to wait just a few more days until the full music video drops on December 25th.
