Deepika Padukone to star in Karan Johar’s Gehraiyaan

KARACHI: Deepika Padukone is set to star in a new movie which is scheduled to release next month. The movie titled Gehraiyaan which is set to release on January 25th will be produced by Karan Johar and will be directed by Shakun Batra who is known for movies such as Kapoor and Sons. The new movie will see industry superstars Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi in the leads alongside Nasseruddin Shah, Rajat Kapur and Dhairya Karwa and will be released on Amazon Prime.

Karan Johar will be producing the new movie as a collaboration between Dharma Productions and Viacom 18 Studios. Despite the fact that the movie was announced quite a while ago, very few details were revealed about the project. The cast and crew, including Deepika Padukone and Karan Johar, recently took to social media to announce the release date of the upcoming movie. Karan Johar wrote,  “It’s time to dive deep and find out what’s beneath just the surface.” Speaking about the new project Johar also said, “Gehraiyaan is an intense, real and honest observation of modern relationships and Shakun has done a phenomenal job of portraying the complexities of human emotions.” Shakun himself called the movie “a mirror into modern adult relationships.”

Deepika Padukone also took to social media to acknowledge the wait and wrote, “Yes, it had been a bit of a wait. But as they saying goes, sometimes the longer you wait for something, the more you appreciate it when it finally arrives!” Ananya Panday called working on the movie magical and wrote on her Instagram caption, “The experience of this film, the people, all the feelings every moment has been nothing short of magic.”

With just a handful of days left for the release, fans cannot wait to see their favorites Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone and Siddhant Chaturvedi back on the screen!
