Malala Yousafzai enters a multi-year partnership with Apple TV+

KARACHI: Youngest ever Nobel laureate, Malala Yousafzai has signed a multi-year programming partnership with Apple TV+. Under this collaboration, the activist turned author will be working with the online streaming giant to help produce original dramas, documentaries and series focused on children’s education, etc. Malala Yousafzai has had an inspirational presence in the cinema through her documentary, He Named Me Malala. The young activist also wrote her own book I Am Malala in 2013, which she co-authored with Christina Lamb. Her on-screen presence only grows with this pact, as she moves forward to use media to educate and inspire.

“Building on Malala’s longstanding relationship with Apple, her original programming for Apple TV+ will span dramas, comedies, documentaries, animation, and children’s series, and draw on her ability to inspire people around the world,” revealed Apple TV+. “Malala and her new production company Extracurricular join Apple’s burgeoning roster of creative visionaries, including Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Idris Elba, Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Octavia Spencer, Kumail Nanjiani, Alfonso Cuarón, and more.”

Speaking about her partnership with Apple TV+, Malala highlighted the importance of storytelling, “I believe in the power of stories to bring families together, forge friendships, build movements, and inspire children to dream,” she said. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Apple to help bring these stories to life. I’m grateful for the opportunity to support women, young people, writers, and artists in reflecting the world as they see it.”

Malala has also served as the founder of the Malala Fund. The initiative has been a source of some highly inspirational stories of women, a recent example is the 2020 Game Changers series which also included Ayesha Ayaz, a 9-year-old taekwondo champion from Pakistan.
