Vogue titles Mira Sethi’s book as one of the best reads for 2021

KARACHI: Mira Sethi revealed in 2019 she had a book in the pipeline, a collection of short stories. Ever since, her fans have been eagerly waiting for her debut novel. Sethi had shared that her book titled “Are You Enjoying” will be published in April 2021, but the date has been moved to May now. As the year began, Vogue also listed it as one of the best books to read in 2021.

The book is a collection of short stories set in Pakistan. “Provocative, funny, disarmingly original stories that upend traditional notions of identity and family, and peer into the vulnerable workings of the human heart,” reads the catalogue description. “From the high-stakes worlds of television and politics to the intimate corridors of home—including the bedroom—these wryly observed, deeply revealing stories look at life in Pakistan with humor, compassion, psychological acuity, and emotional immediacy.”

From what Mira Sethi has revealed so far, some of the characters in the book will be childhood bestfriends who get married to each other, a young woman with an anxiety disorder, a student and an actor. Each story seems to revolve around the theme of love and the human desire to be loved. Sethi also recently shared the UK cover for “Are You Enjoying”.
